We cannot change external environments; we simply have to coexist with them.

To accept your reality is one of the hardest yet most necessary spiritual lessons we face. We definitely suffer because we struggle to live in our reality, but refusing to accept it is simply the worst thing that can happen to us, as it will inevitably bring consequences later on.

You wake up in the morning and go to work out of obligation, but you do it because otherwise, reality would hit you hard. You wouldn’t be able to afford the basic necessities for your daily life, and you wouldn’t even be able to eat.

However, once those basic needs for food and drink are met, you might start wanting more. You want to buy a house, a luxury car, or take more vacations. When you can’t achieve those things right now, or if you hate your job, that is exactly when you start hating your reality. This reality can feel even worse if your spiritual life is empty.

Learning to Accept Your Reality Day by Day

When we graduallybegin to accept our reality—not just in a broad sense, but what happens to us day by day—we start to learn that divinity must be our guide for everything to work out well.

I want to make one thing very clear: acceptance means pursuing your dreams and seeing what life, destiny, God, or the universe (whatever you prefer to call it) offers you, without constantly craving more. When you desire more than what you currently have, you suffer more. This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t strive to improve. Rather, it means observing and paying attention to the lessons you are learning right now, so that you are prepared to receive more later.

Exercise: At the beginning of the day, simply ask the universe or God to guide you. Speak to the divine as if it were your best friend. Keep this up throughout the day—while you are working or heading into a meeting—so that your connection remains as strong as possible. Always wait and listen for a response. Usually, this guidance comes through other people or events that point you in the right direction. You must stay very alert, because the ego will always want something that goes against the divine will.

Ultimately, to accept your reality is not about giving up on your dreams or settling for less. It is about releasing the resistance that keeps you stuck in frustration, so that you can move forward with clarity and peace. When you accept your reality fully, you stop wasting energy fighting what already is, and you redirect that energy toward growth, gratitude, and purposeful action.

Every circumstance you are currently facing, whether comfortable or challenging, carries a lesson meant to prepare you for what comes next. The sooner you accept your reality as it stands today, the sooner you can begin working with life instead of against it. This shift in perspective is often the difference between constant struggle and lasting inner peace.
The exercise below can help you cultivate this mindset in everyday life.Trust that every step of your journey, including this present moment, is preparing you for greater peace and alignment ahead.

With much love, Humberto.
